The van at the Codman Square site
The Family Van regularly visits seven sites throughout Boston each week:
- Codman Square and Upham’s Corner in Dorchester
- Dudley Square and Washington Park Mall in Roxbury
- East Boston
These neighborhoods have the highest prevalence of preventable diseases, such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes, as well as obesity, of all Boston neighborhoods. They also have the highest rates of hospitalization and avoidable emergency-department visits. Most are designated as medically underserved areas by the federal Health Resources and Services Administration. The Family Van is improving the health of vulnerable individuals in these communities through prevention and education, one client at a time. View our schedule and locations.
